About

Andrew Griffiths is an award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years of experience in the music industry. His music is heard daily across broadcast and media platforms worldwide. A specialist in orchestral writing, he is also a highly versatile musician who plays over 30 instruments, with particular expertise in brass and wind.

From a young musician to an expert in composition

Andrew’s musical journey began at the age of seven when, following an asthma diagnosis, doctors recommended he take up a wind instrument. That recommendation led him to the trumpet - and ultimately to a lifelong passion for music. By his teenage years, he had developed an exceptional ability to learn and perform multiple instruments, rapidly expanding his musical vocabulary.

In 1991, Andrew graduated from Cardiff University with a B.Mus (Hons) in Composition. He went on to build a varied career as a freelance studio engineer, music producer, and session musician, working on projects for organisations including the Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales. These early years helped shape his distinctive musical voice and deep technical understanding of recording and production.

Global reach in film, television and other media

For the past 20 years, Andrew has focused primarily on composition, writing music for film, television, and leading production music libraries such as Universal, Audio Network, and AMP. Thanks to the global reach of production music, his compositions are broadcast daily on television and media platforms around the world.

Andrew works primarily from his studio nestled in a quiet village in the upper Swansea Valley, South Wales, but regularly travels to London or Prague to record with orchestras.

Andrew’s music reaches audiences worldwide, spanning continents and cultures; his work is broadcast daily across major television networks and across global media platforms. You will almost certainly have encountered Andrew’s music already, even if you did not realise it.
